General Information
The Meeting on Systems and Control Theory is a gathering of (mostly) Canadian researchers, their students, and postdoctoral fellows. The meeting's focus is on theoretical aspects of systems and control. Its principal objectives are to increase awareness of the local activity in systems and control theory, and to give graduate students, postdocs, and young professors an opportunity to present their work in a friendly and supportive environment.
Established in 2004 with the first meeting hosted at Queen's University, the conference has rotated among Queen's (2004, 2010, 2016), the University of Toronto (2006, 2012, 2018), and the University of Waterloo (2008, 2014). The 9th meeting was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but eventually took place at Waterloo in 2023. In 2025, the meeting will be held for the first time in Montréal.
Meeting Structure
- There will be full days of talks on May 7, 8, and 9.
- Graduate student and postdoc talks are 30 minutes long (25 minutes + 5 minutes for questions).
- Faculty talks are 50 minutes long (45 minutes + 5 minutes for questions), but faculty may also request to give a 30 minute talk.
- Posters will be presented on May 7 and 8.
Abstract Submission and Adjudication
Since the Queen's 2016 meeting, there has been an adjudication process to select talks. The process was introduced to keep the meeting length reasonable in the light of increasing participation. Those who confirm participation will be asked to submit an abstract. Additional details on the selection process will be provided via email at the abstract submission stage. The deadline for abstract submission will be Friday, March 7, 2025.
