LORER Summer School
Montréal, Québec, 4 — 8 August 2025
Organized by the Laboratory for Optimization of Renewable Electricity gRids (LORER), the goal of this first edition of the Summer School is to expose researchers, engineers as well as tomorrow's experts to state-of-the-art optimization and learning methods in the context of modern electric power systems. | |
---|---|
Electric power systems are currently undergoing significant changes. To enable modern power grids to operate safely, reliably, and efficiently in this new paradigm, new numerical methods that integrate optimization and machine learning are needed. About the LORERLORER is a research group at Polytechnique Montréal, Canada working on the design of mathematical methods using a blend of optimization and machine learning for decision-making in renewable energy systems. The research group is affiliated with the international research centers GERAD and Mila, which focus on operations research and artificial intelligence, respectively. Summer SchoolA full week of seminars & tutorials In-depth lectures with complementary numerical implementation workshops. All presenters are world-class experts in their respective areas. Poster session & networking A scientific poster session provides an opportunity to share recent work and a networking event will bring together professionals and researchers. A glimpse of topics Machine learning, large-scale optimization, control methods for power systems, demand response, electromagnetic transient simulations, etc. |
ParticipationGraduate students Master's or PhD students and postdoctoral fellows with a strong interest in renewable electric systems are welcome. University credits offered (details to come). Practitioners R&D analysts and engineers from the industry are invited to attend the Summer School to perfect their knowledge of numerical methods for power systems and discuss challenges and proposed solutions. Professors and Experts International experts and renowned professors will host lectures and seminars and join the discussions. Industries Industry professionals of the Montréal and Québec energy ecosystem will attend the networking event. |
