Multicriteria decision problems and PROMETHEE methods: Concepts, applications and visual PROMÉTHÉE software
This tutorial presents the basic structure for multicriteria (MC) decision problems and methods for dealing with. MC methods are intended to assist a decision maker (DM) in decision problems involving multiple criteria, considering his/her preference structure. Also, an introduction of a framework for building MC models is presented. Then, emphasis is given to the family of PROMETHEE methods, which is one of the most applied multiple criteria decision aid (MCDA). The family of PROMETHEE belongs to a class of outranking methods, where a set of alternatives solutions are evaluated based on pairwise comparisons. The PROMETHEE has been applied to several problems from different contexts, given its main features, which will be described. The objective of this tutorial is to provide main concepts of PROMETHEE methods and some applications, with an overview for building MC models. Some applications will be illustrated by using VISUAL PROMÉTHÉE software.
